The North Houston Frontiers Club held it Annual Scholarship Banquet on Thursday May 6, 2010 @ The Hilton Houston North Hotel. The guest speaker was Christopher LuGrand Dawkins, JD, Rotary International Ambassadorial, South Africa. The Club awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 5 Houston Area students.

The North Houston Frontiers Club, Inc. (NHFC) is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) service organization, dedicated to providing educational and charitable assistance to needy minority students in the greater Houston area. We sponsor two major activities each year to support the organization, one of which is the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast, which solely funds our scholarship program.
On Monday, January 18, 2010, the North Houston Frontiers Club held its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast. It marked the twenty-second anniversary of this event. The Keynote Speaker was Mr. Jeff Johnson, National Talk Radio Host. Ms. Carla Lane, CEO of Lane Staffing, Inc. was the Honorary Chairperson. Also at the Breakfast, The Prestigious Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award was presented to Dr. John E. Codwell III, Podiatric Physician and Surgeon.
All of the net proceeds from the breakfast are used to fund the scholarship program. Over the past twenty-one years, more than $950,000 has been awarded in scholarships. Proceeds from the 2009 Breakfast were used to fund $44,000 in scholarships (10 four-year awards at $1,000 per year) for this year alone!
We continue to form Partnership with corporate partners to further the goals and ideals of Dr. King. The need is great in our community to provide opportunities for young and gifted individuals to reach the levels of success Dr. King dreamed for them achieving in this country. Our Partnership would aid the youth of Harris-Houston area and retain our best students and assist them along in their educational endeavors. We are requesting that you lend your voice to this educational effort through any of the following ways: Underwriting our Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast with a pledge of $30,000, participating at the Partnership Level with a pledge of $10,000, at the Platinum Level ($5,000), Gold Level ($3,000), or Silver Level ($1,000) Levels.
